Vax Floors and All Pet U86-PF-Pe Upright Vacuum
Well designed and powerful for the money
This is an effective and powerful vacuum cleaner. It seems to work well on hard floors (it has a special attachment for this) and carpets, which is a big positive as a lot of cleaners seem to be aimed at either one or the other, but don't do both well. It is a practical upright design, with a long cable so you aren't constantly plugging it into a different socket as you move around the house. It is a bit on the heavy side, but no more so than most upright cleaners. There is a very innovative facility to detach the container and hose from the rest of the cleaner, so that you can turn it into a much more lightweight unit for cleaning stairs or harder to reach areas like cobwebs up at ceiling level, which is a big plus. We have owned a Miele pet hair vacuum cleaner in the past, and on the whole I didn't think this one was quite as good as the Miele, but it's close, and it's a lot cheaper, so I can't really complain.
